Royal Peninsula Hotel Chiangmai ★★★

Checked in last minute for 3 nights after turning up at a dreadful resort before this. Staff were so lovely and helpful let us check in early as room was ready. Pool area ok gets sun late afternoon, about a 10 min walk from centre of Chiang Mai

Rooms could be cleaner. Breakfast wasn’t great but lady told us she was about to teach the chef to make English breakfast that week.

Great location, large very comfortable rooms. The hotel offers a good breakfast. Entertainment for music lovers each evening relaxing refreshments is perfect. Close to airport and convenient location for transport pickups to see all Chiang Mia attractions.

The location was great. Very close to the old city. The restaurant served very good food and the buffet breakfast was wonderful also. Ask to have a ham, egg, cheese omelet especially made for you. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned every day with free bottles of water. There is a refrigerator in the rooms. The only things I would not give it an excellent mark is that the rooms could use some refreshing and the WiFi needs to be updated. The WiFi goes out occasionally. The staff is helpful and wonderful. We met the owner on our last day there. He recently purchased the hotel and is working to make the necessary improvements. He is a very nice man and wants to make improvements to this location. The room rates are very reasonable especially if you book the room with breakfast included. Chiang Mai is a very nice town with many things to see and do. I would not rent a car in Thailand. They drive crazy here and with the InDrive app ride share it is cheap to get a ride. More places less than $2-$3 USD.

Room was old and run down. Uncomfortable beds. The air con barely worked and was very loud. Staff were sympathetic and upgraded me to a better room, which was much better but the hotel feels very old and run down.

Gym, the main reason why I chose the hotel, was being renovated.

The breakfast was often cold and always chicken. No iron or ironing board available to guests.

Spacious hotel. Lots of room in the lobby. Quite and lovely atmosphere. The staff were very kind and helpful all the time. Not very crowded at the time when we were there. The view from the hotel room was also very pleasant and peaceful.

The toilet overflowed in the first day. But the staff was really embarrassed and cleaned it right away. The net connection and speed was truly horrible:/ It should be upgraded at earliest to serve the gests better. Old fashioned interiors. Pool experience was very bad, no shower or any other facilities.

The bedrooms look clean overall but the pillows and cushions were very dusty when touched and other things in the room just looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned for a while.

Our second time staying here - The staff are very accommodating and kindly allowed us to switch room free of charge as we wanted a walk in shower rather than a bath tub. The location is perfect, 10 mins walk to the nearest food stall market which opens from 3pm-12am everyday. There is also a 7/11 just around the corner and the Phae Gates are a 15 mins walking distance. We were lucky enough to go to the worlds longest street market on a Sunday, would 100% recommend visiting this if it’s on. The breakfast offers a buffet style with a mix of European and Thai options. This hotel is listed for most Tour companies (would recommend P&T Travel) for pick up and drop off service.

located just outside of the Chiangmai’s old town, walking distance to most of the attractions inside the old town.

no drinking water bottles provided in the room during my first day. poor sound proof ie issue with the pipe system and can hear whistling noises coming from the shower room at night disturbing the sleep. no hot water supply in my last day so I decided not to extend my stay -‘d moved to another hotel.

It was a last minute booking and it was the only room available. The reception team was polite and cordial.

This hotel was probably amazing 40 years ago, nowadays needs an update, but that we could see over. The biggest problem was the smell in the room, it smelled as if it was closed for years. The room was not very clean and there was a party in the restaurant downstairs that made our walls tremble. The noise didnt let us sleep.

I think the hotel was excellent during it's first 10 years of operation . Upgrading the facilities and amenities would restore it's majestic look. It was comfortable though and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Would love to see how this place would look renovated and redecorated with new furnitures and fixtures and other amenities.

Though the room is very spacious it gives one a feeling of ancient times and gloominess. It could really use a good interior designer's perspective and recommendations. This is more like a suggestion from us.
